Pork with Golden Rum and Cilantro

The Kitchen Doesn't Bite

This recipe is delicious and easy to make. It also goes perfectly with chicken or pieces of lobster. Oh!... and if you make it with Puerto Rican Rum, will come out even better!

What you need to have:

  • 4 deboned pork chops (make sure they’re not too thin)
  • 2 white onions finely chopped
  • 10 cloves of garlic finely minced (not smashed)
  • 1/2 cup of finely chopped cilantro
  • 1/2 cup of Gold Rum and if it’s aged, much better! 
  • 2 teaspoons of pure olive oil or Canola oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

What you need to do:

  1. En un sartén a fuego mediano echas el aceite y las cebollas y lo dejas sofreír por 1-2 minutos.
  2. Luego echas el ajo picado bien pequeño y lo dejas sofreír por 2-3 minutos más.
  3. Luego lo sacas y lo pones en un plato.
  4. Entonces echas el cerdo en el sartén y le añades sal y pimienta a gusto.
  5. Lo dejas sofreír en “medium-high” por unos 20 minutos (recuerda que el cerdo se debe cocinar muy bien). Asegúrate de dorarlo pero no quemarlo ni secarlo. Si quieres tápalo por los primeros 10 minutos para que te quede jugoso.
  6. Luego de que esté doradito sube la temperatura a “high” y echas la cebolla con el ajo, el cilantro y el ron. Asegúrate que esté bien alta la temperatura para que el ron se comience a reducir (que se evepore como 3/4 partes del líquido) inmediatamente.
  7. Mueve las chuletas para que se mezclen bien con todos los ingredientes y una vez el ron esté reducido y las chuletas estén doraditas… está ready to eat!!!

They’re known as Coriander Seeds and they’re divine as a seasoning for seafood must of all, shrimp. A lot of people use them for natural remedies too.
