Lemon Fish Fillet

The Kitchen Doesn't Bite

Oh, how yummy!! This recipe is divine and the best of all is that here you combine two ingredients that are aphrodisiac: asparagus and basil… and if you pair it with a glass of white wine, you’ll have three. So now you know it is perfect for a romantic dinner. Don’t get scared because it has 3 steps, I promise it won’t bite… it will take you exactly 30 minutes!

What you need to have:

For the fish:

  • 2-4 thin fish filets
  • 2 tsps. of unsalted butter
  • 1 lemon
  • Salt to taste

For the sauce:

  • 2 tbs. of olive oil
  • 1 medium yellow onion very finely diced
  • 2 cloves of garlic sliced
  • 1 28 ozs. can of peeled crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup of chicken broth
  • Fresh basil coarsely chopped
  • Pinch of Marjoram (can also use oregano)
  • Salt to taste

For the Asparragus:

  • 1 package of asparragus
  • 1 lemon
  • Olive oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste

What you have to do:

You should start with the sauce for it takes the longer to prepare:

  1. Heat the olive oil and sauté the onions until tender. Then add the garlic and cook for 2-3 minutes. Add the peeled tomatoes, marjoram, and chicken broth and boil uncovered for 20-25 minutes until it turns really thick. Add the basil and salt to taste, some minutes before serving it.

For the fish:

  1. Season the fish with salt. Heat the skillet and add the butter and once is melted put the fish in (don’t let the butter burn). Cook the fish until golden for both sides (about 3 minutes each side). Squeeze some lime juice over the fish before taking it out of the skillet.

For the asparagus:

  1. Pre-heat the oven on 400F. Cut the base stem of the asparagus and place them in a baking dish. Add some salt, pepper, olive oil and lemon zest. Bake for 15-20 minutes….and done!
