Aunque la calabaza (auyama) data desde la época de los egipcios, la calabaza butternut (calabacín) se conoce como la “calabaza moderna”…

Se dice que hizo su aparición en los anos 40 y es mayormente conocida como una calabaza de invierno.

Es un tipo de calabaza de sabor muy dulce y perfecta para sopas y todo tipo de postres y panes por su sabor delicado, dulce y cremoso.  Su color amarillo-naranja pálido y su forma tipo ·pera alargada" la distingue sobre todas las demás.
