Cook "trendy" and live "healthy"

Just as the big runways announce the fashion trends of the year, the color and kitchen industry also publish theirs worldwide. Here I tell you everything:

The color of the year in the kitchen

Let's start with the color of the year according to the Pantone Color Institute company: the Very Peri. This purple color, as described, shows a cheerful attitude and encourages creativity and courage. If we adapt it to the kitchen, the purple color (not necessarily the same tone), are those fruits and vegetables that are generally full of antioxidants and nutrients that protect and nourish our health. For example, purple versions of cabbage, carrots, potatoes, cauliflower, beets, lettuce, onion, olives, plums, grapes, blackberries, radishes, blueberries, and even beans are said to be the most nutritious in their category.

So when you go to the supermarket to buy ingredients to make a salad, select your fruit snacks, bake some vegetables, make a smoothie, a stir fry or prepare a soup or puree, think about the ultra violet power.

Foods and styles that will be "in"

Is comfort food coming back because we've been stuck at home for the past two years? Perhaps, but the reality of comfort food is that it translates into eating as our grandmothers did, simple food, that which fills the soul with its flavor and, most importantly: it feeds us. Other trends that are named for this year are foods and beverages that increase immunity, such as products with vitamin C and hibiscus, plant-based foods, tea and of course the quality of food plays an important role, as well as sustainability and the farm to table” style that if you are not supporting, it is time to change.

Flavors and new experiences

In terms of the type of cuisine, although Asian cuisine tends to be generalized, the flavors of the south are the ones that will gain more strength. Its basic ingredients are simple, rich in flavor and they all need to be steamed or boiled. For example, jasmine rice, citrus fruits, Asian basil, coriander, garlic, ginger, sesame seeds, chili peppers, among others. It's a healthy way to cook, requiring only a few new ingredients to refresh your daily dishes.

After everything lived and learned in 2021, I think the world is convinced that health is the most important thing. Remember that we only control what we cook at home. For this reason, you have to be very smart and not get carried away by the trends in technology that take us away from our kitchen. You have to be more selective when selecting what we bring to it. Cook with fresh ingredients, do not buy what you should not eat and leave everything processed outside the home.
